We have the right to drive, work, pay income taxes and we can even register at 17. But we can’t have an electoral voice in our schools until 18.

This doesn’t make sense to us, and we need you to help us. 

We’re working to give school boards the option to lower the Board of Education voting age to 16. We introduced House Bill 855 which does just that.

Meet the Team

  • Caitlyn Douglas

    CO-FOUNDER & CO-DIRECTOR

    Caitlyn attends Lafayette High School in Lexington. As co-founder, she leverages her lobbying skills (and connections!) to build lasting relationships with legislators. Outside of Vote16KY, she’s active in the Kentucky High School Speech League, much like Ezra & Ismail. She also frequents her school’s Y-Club where she simulates state and international governance through bill writing. Fun fact: she’s proficient in Irish Dancing!

  • Ezra Anglin

    CO-FOUNDER & CO-DIRECTOR

    Ezra is a ninth grader at Lafayette High School’s SCAPA Literary Arts. Like Caitlyn & Ismail, he hails from the Bluegrass of Lexington. He brings a skill set grounded in empathy and framed around a drive to affect change in Kentucky. Outside of Vote16KY, Ezra advocates as a student member on the FCPS Consolidated District Improvement Planning Committee. He aspires to become the Governor of Kentucky.

  • Ismail Khan

    CO-FOUNDER & CO-DIRECTOR

    Ismail is a freshman at MSTC Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington. He brings a lengthy background in leadership & community organizing. Outside of Vote16KY, Ismail serves on the Kentucky High School Speech League Youth Advisory Board and leads the Kentucky chapter of Youth Civics Network, a national nonprofit focused on civics education.
